Help support Zander's school, this amazing place we call PHAME!

This June, I’m raising funds for programs that support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in creating, learning, performing, and building community through the arts. PHAME is a joyful, welcoming place where people are celebrated for exactly who they are. Both my children are performing artists with an appreciation for diversity and access. When Jayna was younger, she saw the joy and confidence that performing instilled in her brother and her chosen-cousin Zen. Jayna dreamed of a theater that enabled performers like Zander and Zen (pictured right) to thrive. I will never forget seeing my first PHAME choir performance, when I realized that such a place exists!

I joined the PHAME board just before the pandemic, and I am so proud that the school quickly built an online program to support their students and maintain community. When Zander graduated from high school just a few months later, I was grateful that his uncertain future would be bolstered by this amazing school and its students. Six years later, PHAME remains a core part of our family experience. Zander has explored new talents, become more independant, and developed a stage presence that sparks joy. Over those six years, PHAME also worked to find a space they could make their own. Their new building, The Robin, is so much more than just classroom space for the students - it represents empowerment to lead full, creative lives through arts education and performance.
