Every PHAME student has a story. This is my story.  My name is Heidi.  

     I first learned about PHAME from Jenny Stadler, a former executive director.  She lived down the street and we had just moved to the neighborhood.  She invited us to attend a performance and learn more.  We went to the Snowglobe Time Machine Show at the Alberta Rose Theater. We were greeted by Cristal, a friendly and enthusiastic participant who shared her experiences.  I wanted to know more so I signed up for classes.  

     PHAME offers a variety of classes in different mediums.  Some people like theater classes, but I prefer music, dance and visual arts classes.  Drumming and Improv Dance are my favorites.  In Drumming with Alex I like learning different kinds of rhythms from around the world. With Sarah in Improv Dance each dancer learns to create shapes with their body and together we design a whole class shape.  It's kind of like putting a puzzle together and taking it apart. Each piece is important to the whole shape.  I also enjoy singing with JD & Hana, making 'Zines with Jebby, Photography with Dave and Mixed Media with Julia.  I like learning new things!

    In June & December PHAME showcases students’ work and talents with performances.  I love performing with my classmates for my friends and family.  I used to be nervous before going on stage, but now I just go with the flow.  Twice I have learned ASL lyrics for songs and have performed with the choir.  I am proud of challenging myself.

    PHAME is more than classes.  We also enjoy movie & karaoke nights and holiday dances & parties. Sometimes we have the opportunity to attend special events like Cirque du Soleil, the ballet, plays and art gallery shows.  Almost PHAMEous, the comedy troupe performs around town and they are hilarious!.  PHAME is about fun, friends and community.  

     This fundraiser helps PHAME with their new chapter and assists more students with their own PHAME story.  Thank you for supporting this AWESOME program! To Be Continued…
