PHAME constantly reminds me of the value of being an artist—our pursuit of creativity and self-expression inevitably leads us to connection and community. 

From the students who show up every day to the staff who work passionately in their service, we all practice this.

As an actor, photographer, and musician, I get to grow alongside our students here by teaching and sharing my disciplines, while also continually examining them as the artists here prove that there is always an alternative path to creativity. 

Although it is miraculous that a place such as PHAME exists, it’s also heartbreaking to know that it’s so rare. Everyone needs community- and folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities are often excluded from them. Art is for everyone, and your contribution to PHAME-a-thon will go toward expanding programs for students and supporting staff like me. I hope you help support all of us here at PHAME!
