Last year I learned about the incredible work of PHAME, a long-time Portland fine and performing arts center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). I attended their annual gala, and was so inspired by the students’ talent, passion and community that I have now joined their board of directors. In this tumultuous time, I feel more committed than ever to supporting joy and creativity. PHAME is giving me that opportunity, and I would love for you to join me in this important work!
PHAME has workshops and classes, and puts on art shows and performances in drama, comedy and music. All of their work emphasizes that ART IS FOR EVERYONE! Students here are building teamwork, communication, self-awareness, and self-advocacy skills as they develop their painting, dancing and singing skills (and many others). It is so inspiring to see the empowerment and joy of these students!
